‘’Peluang Sumut mendulang medali masih terbuka dari cabang-cabang yang sudah mulai masuk babak semifinal seperti pencak silat putri dan cabang-cabang lainnya. Tampil sebagai jawara, harumkan nama Sumatera Utara,’’ tandas Erry saat tiba di Kualanamu International Airport usai mensupport kontingen Sumut yang berlaga di arena PON 2016 di Bandung, Jumat (23/9).
Erry menyebutkan hari ini kita masih menduduki peringkat 5 setelah Jabar, DKI Jakarta, Jatim dan Jateng dengan mengoleksi 13 emas 12 perak dan 15 perunggu. ‘’Saya mengapresiasi wushu keluar sebagai juara umum dengan koleksi 8 emas, karate mendapat 2 emas, drumband 2 emas dan biliar 1 emas,’’ ujar Erry.
Erry juga menyebutkan pada PON XVIII di Riau tahun 2012 lalu, kontingen Sumut menduduki peringkat 8 dengan mengoleksi 15 emas, 19 perak dan 23 perunggu. ‘’PON XIX ini target kita 7 besar. Hari ini sudah berada di posisi 5 besar. Pertahankan itu. Alhamdulillah jika bisa 4 besar,’’ sebut Erry. (SB/01)
