Untuk merayakan ini, Masjid Pusat Hamilton mengadakan open house Sabtu lalu (22/10) sebagai tanda terima kasih telah membantu pemadaman masjid.
Dilansir dari “cambridgetimes.ca, Selasa (25/10/2016), acara yang diselenggarakan oleh Dewan Muslim Hamilton dengan tema Know Your Neighbours dibuka di tiga masjid dalam rangka //Islamic Heritage Month. Imam Ayman al Taher memberikan plakat kepada lima orang warga sekitar Masjid Jami Ibrahim sebagai ucapan terima kasih telah bertindak cepat saat api membakar pintu masuk masjid.
Seorang warga, Lisa Bartlett mengatakan, membela masjid menjadi sebuah tindakan normal bagi siapapun saat melihat kejadian itu. “Bagi kami, ini adalah hal yang berant untuk dilakukan bagi seorang tetangga,” ujar dia.
Kepolisian telah menangkap pelaku pembangkaran Keith Frederick (34 tahun) dengan motif kejahatan kebencian. Imam Masjid berterima kasih atas kerja keras kepolisian Hamilton.
Open House berlangsung hingga Ahad hingga pukul 16.00 waktu setempat. Selain di Masjid Jami Ibrahim, open house juga digelar di Masjid Mountain Hamilton dan Masjid Downtown Hamilton. (ROL/SB~01)
